Shaykh Seduq, with reliable chain of narrators, records Ali ibn Musa al-Rida who records his ancestor Ali ibn Abi Talib who records his father-in-law Prophet Muhammad - peace and blessings be upon him and his purified progeny - who thus spake while lecturing his Ashab (Companions):

Muslims spend their Ramadan trying to finish reciting the entire Qur'an at least once in Arabic; it's called tilawat |
O people! Here comes to you a month of blessings in which sins are forgiven. This month is better in the eyes of God than any other month; its days are better than other months', its nights are better than other months' and its moments are better than other months'. This is the month in which God has asked you to be His guest and has put you among the noblemen as, in this month, your breathing and your sleeping are all equal to your worshiping. In this month, your deeds are accepted and prayers are heard. So ask God in this month, with pure intentions and hearts free from filth, that He enable you to observe fasts of this month and recite Qur'an, because he who failed to receive forgiveness from His Lord in this noble month, is a wretched fellow. Imagine the hunger and thirst of the Day of Resurrection while you suffer from the hunger and thirst of the days of this month. Give charity to the beggars. Respect the elders. Show mercy to the younger ones. Be kind to your relatives. Protect your tongues from words which are better not spoken, your eyes from views which are better not looked at, and your ears from voices which are better not listened to. Show mercy to others' orphans so people will show mercy to your orphans after you. Repent from your sins. Turn yourself towards your Lord. Raise your hands after you've offered your prayers as these are the best moments in which God looks at His servants with mercy and responds to those who whisper with Him and says Labbaik ("I am here") to those who calls Him. O people! No doubt that your lives are all borrowed. Seek forgiveness from your Lord to save liberate your lives. Your backs are pressed under a big load. Weaken this load by going down in prostration. Because God has sworn on His Grace and Mightiness that He will not torture those who pray and prostrate in this month or scare them with Fire on the Day of Resurrection. O people! If a person helps a believer break his fast in the month, he will be rewarded with the virtues of those who have their sins forgiven and who emancipate a slave.
